There are literally thousands of slot machines at California casinos that will delight, intrigue, amuse and capture a casino player’s attention. And, hopefully give you a jackpot one in a while.

Twenty-first century slot machines are leaps beyond the original mechanical slot created in 1895 by enterprising car mechanic, Charles Fey of San Francisco.

The Liberty Bell slot machine had three spinning reels. Diamond, spade, and heart symbols were painted around each reel, plus the image of a cracked Liberty Bell. A spin resulting in three Liberty Bells in a row gave the biggest payoff, a grand total of fifty cents or ten nickels.

There are basically three types of slot machines: reel-spinners, video slots, progressives, and community slots, which is usually a video slot and sometimes a progressive.
